The Parkinson principle:
For those of you who want to read the actual theory, I can guarantee that its a good read. For those of you who are too lazy to google that (Im guessing almost all of you), a short summary -If there is a deadline at 6, start working on it at 5. Any time earlier is simply a waste of time.
To add a corollary to that, when you have the most F***ed up term in the whole b-school life, where every prof is intent in setting you ass on fire, somehow you sit back in the middle of the term, at one of those rare free sundays that you get (isnt it supposed to be a holiday??), and reflect back on how youve lazed around more this term than any other term in college so far (or the previous one for that matter). Really, Im thinking of all the things I did my first two terms (Not much, agreed, but still something is better than nothing).. and compare it with this term. So I came up with an exhaustive list of everything I did this term.. this is what the list looks like
Study - Are you kidding me
Assignments, prepare for exams - You are kidding me now!
Outings - Wish I had
Birdwatching - sadly seems the birds too have assignments :(
Hanging out with friends - same for friends
play a game - oh yeah.. minesweeper and solitaire anyone
call a friend - and what, transfer your depression onto them...
The list goes on and on, but I wont bore you further. So there you have it - this is said to be the hardest term in the whole 2 years and I am realizing more and more about how I flushed Rs 1million down the drain. Funny thing is there are 239 guys and girls around me in the same boat.
Hence whenever someone complains about difficult time, just remind them that its just the opportune moment to prove Mr Parkinson (God bless him) right. once again. after countless other. and looking at it that way atleast helps easing your feeling of guilt. I could go on and say that this is probably the greatest discovery made by man since fire and murphy's law(God bless him too). Because I find it deeply gratifying that even my amazing heights of laziness has an excuse and the next time I feel like lazing around, I need to see no further than Mr.Parkinson for reasons..

PS.. a few glaring grammatical errors, only because I was too lazy to correct them.. ( I knew that you would guess right).
